DLSA 60's Board Contest 2011

Night before the contest, I was at a show watching my buddy play on stage for the first time and thankfully a friend called to ask what time I was going to the comp tomorrow... I totally spaced it was the next day and to add to it.... I was board-less. It's 10:30pm, comp is tomorrow morning, and I have NO board to ride.... I call my best friend Christian Wach to see if he could help me find a board or if he knew anyone with one that I could borrow.... Somehow a few month prior, he purchased a vintage David Nuuhiwa Noserider. He has never ridden it, nor was it even waxed. He was in Nicaragua at the moment and without hesitation he said "DUDE, RIDE MY BOARD!!!" I was scared as sh*t to even ride such a monumental board and also the possibility of dinging it etc etc etc!!! He insisted i ride it and to just do him a favor and do my best (: WOOOOooooooo

   Arrived at 6:30am to sign up and check heat times.... The waves were non existent and to add to it, the tide was higher than mt. everest..... The particular wave the contest was being held at, breaks best on a low tide. I decided to call it off and go home to pack for my upcoming trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.... I get a message from Bing Copeland applauding for me to kill it in the contest and to make Bing Surfboards proud... I had to do the comp..... I had to...

   I drive back down to check the conditions.... I have to do the contest... I just have to.... I swear the wave gods heard me wishing for better waves and I walk up to the comp to only find the tide has dropped to a perfect height, south wind turned to offshore, and the sun was shining through!

   (Loud Speaker) "Kameron Brown, you have 5 minutes till your heat and need to check in." Of course the board is not even waxed and my wetsuit is back in my van.... I ran 100 miles per hour and have never waxed a board and/or put a wetsuit on faster than that in my whole life. Prolly a world record.... I hit the water's edge with 15 seconds till my heat starts..... barely made it...

   Contest lasted all day..... heat after heat..... wetsuit change after wetsuit change (Thanks Coral Reef Wetsuits).....

   Since being home from Australia, fishing has been a huge thing on my mind. Good buddy Bobby got his first boat and secretly bought, fixed, and dialed everyday while I was on my trip in Oz. just so I could come home to a fish-ready boat! The morning I got arrived, got home, threw my stuff on my floor, packed my fishing gear, and was out the door in a matter of 15 minutes. Dana Point is out backyard and will be the testing grounds for the "Tin-Can". We got it in the water and were surprised to see it floating (: The boat worked perfect, everything was perfect. The best bass boat anyone could ask for. We surprisingly killed it. We're pulling up fish left and right. "Wow...... how nice is this compared to fishing in our kayaks?"

   Newport Harbor was out next destination. All started off with a 4am wake up call..... Loaded the boat and were off. This is our first time launching out of Newport with our boat and we are kind of wondering how this is all going to unfold as the day goes on. Hopefully everything works again. We fished for 9 hours straight ..... with no sunscreen. Probably the worst idea I ever had... Besides the loss of a few layers of skin... we ended up catching pretty much every fish inside that harbor.

   Now the ready deal. We know our boat works. We know it works well for fishing. We don't know if it can handle swell? One calmish day, we decide to take a 7 mile trek into open waters in our 12 foot aluminum to one of our honey holes. 35 minutes and one set of soaking wet clothes later, we barely arrived...... BAM.. SHABANG.... SLAY.... WACK......POW...BAM...... fish after fish.... We drove ourselves into this massive kelp patty throwing jigs in every possible direction.

If you know what kind of fish this is, you should tell me. I would love to know.

For those of you who don't know, I have an older brother Kaelin Brown, born July 14, 1987. He is training and working very hard to become a nurse, and is an EMT for San Clemente ER at the moment. Has been through pretty much everything with me since we were just little guys. Always doing sports together, fishing, camping, skating, etc. together. Couldn't ask for a better friend.
Just recently on March 28th, my brother had his entire head, face, and eyebrows shaved off to help raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation to help fight pediatric cancer. The event raised over $150,000 for the foundation. The event had a great turnout of people and I know many, many kids and adults had their faces filled with smiles. Maybe next year..... i'll be the one in that chair?? :0

Okay so, this is probably one of "the best" trips I have ever been on in my life. I have scored some of the best waves of my life, seen seriously the hottest women, met the hottest women, enjoyed some real deal parties, got thrown the best birthday party, caught my first australian fish, eaten the best food, went to double island point for the first time (magical days), lucked out on the sunniest warmest weather, have been taken care of by some great friends (thank you harrison roach and matt williams), and have gotten more tip time and tube time then I could ever ask for.

I arrived on March 5 and the funny thing is that I was supposed to leave the 25th of March and have again extended my ticket another 3 weeks. My flight out date is the April 19 and I realllllly don't want that day to come. I think one day I will come here and probably never go home. This place feels like my home.. away from home.

This next week is forecasting for perfection of waves..... again. I think australia knew I was coming.

So... Australia.... I love you.

This year is now my 3rd time coming to Australia.... in a row. I love it here. At the moment it is 80 degrees outside and the water is about 78 degrees and it is absolutely bowing my mind. It was March 8th yesterday, that meaning I just turned 22 years old. I have had my birthday in Australia the past three years and I have to admit that just being here is by far one of the best birthday presents I could ask for. I come out here to not only hang out with friends but I enter into the annual Noosa Festival Of Surfing contest. People from all over the world travel here to experience this event. You should see how packed it gets here in Noosa. You can seriously drive around for an hour looking for car parks, and if the waves are pumping, and you are not an aggressive surfer.... you can catch "no" waves. The level of surfing here is through the roof. Everybody from lil grommets to old farts, literally rip the lip off of these waves. I feel as though noosa is like a book. Every page (wave) is new..... and you neeeeed to read the page to the best of your ability or you'll be catching the worst waves all day.... I was surfing last night with my good friend Harrison Roach and noticed that every wave I'd paddle for.... he wouldn't want.... and every wave he paddled for... looked like absolute nothing. Guess again.... I would turn around and see that his tiny little bump of a wave would double up and start DRILLLING down the line with perfect shape.. A lot to learn from these ozzy shredders.

My plan this trip is to stay from the 5- 25th of march. This was a very similar itinerary to my trip last year and...... those 3 weeks turned into 3 months! I called quantas airlines the night before my flight out and extended my trip another 2 1/2 more months. So, in all honesty, who really knows how long my trip will be this year. (:

The waves have been so fun since I have arrived here and I hear they are here to stay for a while. There is a swell in the making and we're supposed to have solid swell for at least the next week. The Noosa comp starts on Saturday the 12th meaning we will probably/hopefully score some pretty good waves. This year I have entered the Nose rider Trials and the Old Mal events. (Quick thanks to ICONS OF SURF as they made it possible for me to make it to Australia.)

I haven't seen a kangaroo yet but once I do... I will jump on his back and go for an intense ride!

Told Ya I Like To Fish

Okay so, it was just an averagely normal night, out on the town with a few friends, kick'n back a couple brews. Our spot for the night is a local bar in dana point called Hennessys. They have great beers on tap and delicious comfort food like burgers and potatoes skins and even shepard's pie.... We decide to venture right next door to hennessys sister bar, the fish bucket. It is connected to hennessys but is more of a party room with music and dancing floor. Not really my style but drinks are 1/2 off and there are many gorgeous women flocking so why not go check it out... Order my beer (a bloody beer actually), and look over at my buddy bobby. He's dying of laughter and screams out for me to come over and "CHECK THIS OUT".

You know those arcade style machines the kids play that are filled with toys or candy or stuffed animals? Well this is the exact same thing, only instead of stuffed animals...... it s freaking holding tank filled with LIVE LOBSTERS??? Like, are you freaking kidding me? Living animals, inside a machine, where intoxicated humans pay $2 to try and scoop out a lobster. It says if you get a lobster, they will cook it right then and there for free, on the house.

Bobby looks at me and says " Kameron...... I believe in you." Just those few words got me so amped, I HAD TO TRY AT LEAST ONCE! He even kindly split the cost with me.... $2 goes in the machine... I have bobby on the side of the tank helping me guide this "CLAW OF DEATH" in the perfect spot. We picked out this one in particular lobster. It was the only one that was actually standing up on his feet. I could hear the lobster screaming out.... "EATTT ME, EATTTT ME" haHAHhahah

Long story, longer..... I lock it in place........ and times up. The claw drops down, into the water, closer and closer to the lobster it goes.....

HOLY SH*T....... I got it??!!!! DUDE I GOT IT!!! BOB WEEEEE GOTTT A LOBSTER.. The freaking machine grabbed the lobster and started bringing him up. We are so close but so far. The claw has to first off grab the lobster, then bring him upward... Up and fully out of the water and continue moving a couple feet to the drop box..... The freakin lobster didn't move a millimeter... I couldn't believe it...

We're inches from the drop box and you can hear this noise in the background getting louder and louder and LOUDER.... *kurrrPLOP* The lobster is released from the claw of death.... into the lovely "collect here" box. (:

I have never in my life, heard a bar, get that loud..... EVERYONE was freaking out screaming and yelling! The bartenders were tripping out asking me how the hell did I manage to get that freakin animal out of there? "I've seen people spend $100 on this machine and never, have I seen someone get one?"

I grabbed the little 'bug' of an animal, and literally walk over to the kitchen and drop the LIVE LOBSTER in the food window...

If you didn't know, I love food. I love cooking food, preparing food, smelling food, and mosttly I love eating food. I have always been in the kitchen with my dad making meals since was just a little guy. Last night I cooked one of the most amazing chicken dishes I think ever.

What we have here is 2 organic chicken breasts stuffed with bacon and swiss cheese. I pan fried the chicken and bacon then tossed it in the oven on broil 'till browned! I threw in some delicious carrots and onions with the dish and it only made the aroma in my kitchen that much better.

This past deer season, I somehow harvested my very first deer. Deer season if a very short allotted time given to hunters, with all correct tags etc, to harvest their deer. This includes a lot of time scouting, hiking, walking, thinking, waking up early, sitting.... Scanning hill sides for hours looking through binoculars can be very difficult and really takes a certain person to be able to do this day in and day out. I went out hunting many many times this season and returned with nothing but a little more knowledge. Too small of deer, too young of deer, only seeing female doe, and sometimes not seeing anything for days. For those of you who don't know, the only deer we can harvest here in zone D-15 are male deer.

It was a cold cold morning when me and my pa decide to have a father son go out. Out the door by 5:30am. It has been raining the past few days and forecast calls for rains today as well. We decide to take off anyways on our search for the prize buck. We come to a clearing in the brush and I spot antlers. I tell my dad to charge around the other side of the peak and I will try to ambush him and somewhat push him towards my dad. Sure enough all I hear is... BOOOOM BOOOOOMMMMM BOOOOOOMMMMMM. I was soooo excited and so pumped my Dad just scored his first deer of the year. I book it to where my pa is and find him bummed by the fact the deer had gotten away. He said the deer was charging full speed and tried to get him on the run. These animals are not slow what so ever and are a very spooked animal in general. We keep on trekking and walking and walking. It's probably out 10th time out this season with no luck so doubt it starting to fill my head. Up ahead is a lookout where you can scan many hill sides and be out of sight from any game. I decided to leave my gear at the bottom and my dad hikes up. "KAMY KAMY!!!" He looks at me with eyes the size of baseballs and does the military finger movement trying to explain that there are deer right there. The deer were quite far away but my dad goes for the shot. I run... (more like sprint) back to my rifle and gear to only see my dad reloading his gun. "THEY TOOK OFF KAMY!!!" UGHHHhh "im charging..." is all I told my father. I take off in the bushes. Swallowed by the head high brush and engulfed in the muddy earth, I "rambo" is down and down and down this ravine after these deer. Getting sliced up and slapped in the face from branches, spider webs in my face, tripping on rocks, I felt as if I was in vietnam. Bloody, wet, and tired I come to a head opening and all I see is a HUGE set of antlers. No body... just antlers. "I can't take the shot." I need the animal to be in sight more before I take a shot. Just remember this is my very first time deer hunting and I am all alone in the middle of the Cleveland national forest, scared shitless........

I almost give up. I have been running and army crawling down and through this crazy forest infested with ticks and rattlesnakes and and and and ! hahahaha I have one last chance to locate and shoot this buck before they reach the bottom and book it outa there! " CRUNCH!!!!" "CRUNCHhhhh; crunch!" I look to my left and right there.... on the hill side is MASSSSIVE antlered animal calmly walking as if he was alone... Little did he know... I was 150 yards away shitting my pants scared out of my mind trying to figure a game plan for this! I tell myself, "ok ok .. Kameron...... calm down.. you got this." I raise my rifle to my shoulder and put the deer in the cross-hairs of the scope... I see him.. right there.. in my scope. My heart is pounding so hard and my breaths were so intense I can't even keep the gun still..... UGH!!! I lower my gun and really re-think this. I am all alone...... where's my dad??... what the heck?? At this point i'm really talking to myself. Do I wait for my dad? Do I rest my gun on a branch or kneel down or move or get closer or.. or ... or? I couldn't seem to gather my thoughts until it hit me..... one more time I tell myself.... "Kameron... you can do this." I took a deep breath and calmly raised my gun to my shoulder once more. Located the deer in my cross hair... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! Even before I had the chance to tell myself to pull the trigger, I had already shot. This massive animal hit the ground so hard.... rolled a couple times down the hill and just stopped. WAAAAAAAAHHHH HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YIPPPEPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HOLYY SHITTT!!! OH MY GODDDD!! I was freaking out.... FREAKING OUT! I JUST GOT MY FIRST DEER!!!! It was a perfect kill shot. Pefect lung shot that exited out through his spine. Didn't even take a step... Hit the deck like a sack of rocks!

Somehow, all morning, it hadn't rained...... from the time we started hunting to the moment I shot my deer. I can't find my Dad anywhere so I try to locate and drag out this deer alone..... Of course... it starts down pouring... RAINING CATS AND DOGS!!! The rain almost hurt. The hill in which the deer is on is straight up! I am no deer and can not climb this thing... I need to really take a close look at where this deer is, remember it, and get the fu*k outa there!!! Long story short...... I get to the truck and change clothing while still freaking out cuz my dad is no where to be found... I've been screaming in excitement because of my deer and no dad? Im in the truck soaking wet now starting to worry.. maybe my dad fell and hurt himself.. or the rain made him get lost or ? I don't know. I get changed into warm dry camo and just wait....

I see Mr. Cliff Brown emerging from the bush soaked from head to toe and looked like he was in the muddiest swamps for the past week..... I tell him the story :) so many excites!! We pull out heads together and come up with a game plan to re-locate this deer from another route... We hiked and hiked around the hill to where I think the animal is..... "Dad, I swear it was like right here?.... I swear." " Kameron.... are you sure you got it? Are you sure you hit and killed the deer.?" I take 5 more stepsss andddd WAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THERE ITT IS!

It was a random day at San Onofre. Surfed all morning, scored great waves, good vibes, ate an apple and was out. Driving down the sandy ol bumpy road to only look over my shoulder and in the dirt, was this little wooden box. The lid was broken off and covered in dirt. I looked at this 'box' and saw something good in it. It needs a future, not a trash can. "One mans trash is another mans treasure." I picked it up and in the panda van it went.

Kameron Brown, as we know him, has finally started the process of becoming a man. Life has turned upside down for the better. Life as a child seems so easy consisting of chocolate candies, staying up late watching south park, and not taking showers. \'''/ shaka to that. But life is quite hard when it comes down to the grand scheme of things. Paying bills, buying groceries and toilet paper and shampoo and laundry detergent, being on time to work, working many hours, etc. are just a few things to add to the now enlarging list of "growing up?"

My number one thought at the moment is how the heckk do I make it to Australia this year when I need to pay for rent and bills? Or how do all these surfers travel to the sickest places in the world and have the same bills as I do? I figured out that waiting tables in San Clemente is a lot different than collecting a check from a sponsor. My plans are to keep smiling, having fun, traveling, and surfing everyday till maybe one day I will have that "sponsor" or job that will give me the opportunity to travel the globe and experience God's wonderful creations.

I am here to strive for the best. I want to do everything to my fullest and use what I learn/ know to better people around me and hopefully I can one day inspire people all around the world. I believe the reason for us being here on this round earth is to simply enjoy life, smile, be happy, and love. I am not going to stop doing what I love. I am searching and searching for the right thing for me to do now as a 21 year old that can boost my stoke on growing up and can allow me to do what I love. Laird Hamilton once said..... the harder you can work, the harder you can play. I've tried to implement that into my day to day life. I work in a restaurant now but I have a good feeling for what my future has to offer and I know I'm ready for it.

Just writing this has really given me a boost in really wanting to figure things out. There comes a time in everyones life when the 'ol parents tell you it's time for you to move out and figure things out. I have just experienced this a week and a half ago. Life hit me square in the face and I'm here to fight back. I need to line all my ducks in a row and get my ass to Australia. 'SAVING' is going to be my word for the month. I have pretty much one month until I would leave for Oz. Work, save, work, save, SANO SHRED, work, save, sano, work, work, save, no beer, save. hahahahah Going to cross my fingers and K.B. hopefully will be seeing you all in Noosa Heads, Australia 2011

Janurary 14 and 15 in Santa Cruz, California.

16 of the worlds top longboarders have been invited to Steamers Lane to compete for a purse prize of $10,000. The surfers are encouraged to go beyond contest normality and get the best board sacrifice, split peaks, and share waves, as there is a $500 prize in each heat for the best shared wave and also a $1000 prize for the best board sacrifice during the contest...... never really heard or seen anything like that before? STOKED! (:

Good friend of my Nathan Adams and myself loaded my panda van for a week long trip filled with the most crip adventures known possible. It all started around 3:30 am on wednesday the 12th. Woke up (more like jumped out of bed) brushed the teeth, and out the door I was. Picked up Naterz by 4 am and on the road we were by 4:11. Coffee and stoke challest in hand, cruise control set at 75, and smooth sailing for the next 436.4 miles. Parking spot (my house) to parking spot (steamer's lane).... 6 hours and 19 minutes. ~charging~

It is my first trip to Santa Cruz, even north of santa barbara for that matter, so we decided to take the 101 and was probably the best idea we could have done. Grape vines, gorgeous mountains, artichoke fields, rolling hills, sunrise??? Perfection at its finest. I was told next time to take the 1 through Big Sur. Atleast now I have another reason to go up there besides all of the sexy granola/ hippee chicks (:

We pulled up to what I thought was perfect waves. The glassy waves and mass balls of kelp gave me an EAR-y feeling of frozen waters. Wore my new 4.3 Coral Reef full suit and was surprisingly very warm. First 4.3 i've owned and now I know why they make em? hahahah

We surfed and hanged and surfed and drank and chilled and explored and laughed and jacuzzied and ate and ate and ate. Vans is by far one of the BEST companies on the face of this earth. Nicest, radest, down to earth, most rad vibe filled company I have been around. All the surfers got put in a 5 star hotel on the beach along with breakfast and dinner everyday and enough beverages to fill a camel. I know there are many, many more people involved with the happening of this amazing event but I really wanted to say thank you to Scott at Vans and Joel Tudor. Without you guys and your love for life, this contest wouldn't have been put on and none of this would be my past... and I would have never seen ALEX absolutely SHRED his way to the final. I have never been taken care of this much or been around this many people with smiles on their faces and I appreciate you involving me.

There are many websites with the full details of the comp. Vans, surfer, etc. all have an article on the event and I highly recommend you read about it. These Duct Tape- Joel Tudor Invitationals will hopefully change the world and their outlooks on longboarding.

There's always those times when you know you need a new board. Get all worked up with all these ideas of colors and rockers and size and length and and and and the list goes on. You need to find out who is going to shape your board along with price and time and where and who and how and why?

Making surfboards is not an east thing to do. Remember back to your last board when it took 3 weeks longer than expected and still didn't come out "right". There's always time of waiting and wondering when it is being built. I went beyond those boundaries and came up with the idea to make my own surfboard. Called up a few friends and off to the shop I was.

I have so much more respect for clear glass jobs and perfected glass jobs along with laminators that can match a color by 'eye'. There is so much perfection in this industry it blows my mind. I think perfection is the main factor in docking companies as 'the best factory'. Everything from measuring the catalyst to cutting the laps..... took me by surprise.

I was in Australia this past year for 3 months and encountered many things. This was at my buddy Matt Cuddihy's local sandy stretch, Marcus Beach. A hatching of turtles right before our eyes. What seemed like 100's of baby turtles came rushing out of this tunnel of a hole in the sand. It seemed as though they all had a group meeting before they all broke the surface. One after another, they instantaneously climbed out of the sand and started booking it towards the ocean. Not one turtle hesitated..... even with us 'humans' being present.

All in all, a small team of volunteers were present making sure every little turtle was taken care of and okay for departure. They made sure I did not touch any of these baby turtles..... or else I'd have one as a pet at this very moment <(")penguins

I know there comes a time when you feel the need to change your wax. There is no proper way of extracting wax, or any rule book, to get that old black sticky wax off your boards. My tools consist of acetone, towels, an abundance of sun, and last but not least, a "wax buddy". It's the perfect surf comb morphed with every possible tool to get your stick fresh and ready to shred.

Just got back from Kauai and the only thing on my mind (because it's freezing, and flat, and cloudy, and crappy) was my surfboard. I have laminated both sides and the next steps need to be taken! Back to Canvas Surfboards factory to tackle yet another foreign task of surfboard building.

Mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix, mix and mix the catalyst in, pour that chee on, and get to brushing. A hot coat uses a different resin from lamination resin. Another name for it would be sanding resin. Dave (laminator... actually the best laminator for Canvas, Infinity, Nation surfboards, etc.) took me through some of the basic steps of hot coating and sure enough, with his words of wisdom, it came out better than I originally thought. My face lit up instantly. Another step towards the finish line and so excited.

I could not believe the day when I finished shaping my board. I could not believe there was nothing left to do.... Not one thing. Somehow hours and hours of work just stopped... It was time for a huge step. Out of the shaping room and into the lamming room. But I didn't have a room... or racks... or lights... or....? really anything. I had a box full of resins, catalyst, tapes, squeeges, buckets, and sticks... but no where to glass it. My best friend Christian Wach opened his arms, and invited me to the Canvas Surfboards factory to let me finish my board. My board needs to be laminated, hot coated, sanded, polished and I have to opportunity to do all of this, in one location.This will be my first board to ever laminate and also my first board to have ever shaped. I remember when Maxx took me to Bashams to get my blank and supplies, all I could ask myself was.. what the heck are you getting yourself into?.... Before long, I found out it was a lot more sweat and work, then I ever originally thought hahah (: I have put countless, hard working hours into this board and somehow only got to finish the lamination as of today. Today was the birth of the very first, Nugget Chaser by Kameron Brown.

There are so many things to do wrong in making a surfboard. I have so much more respect for people in the surfboard crafting industry. Surfboard making is all about perfection. Anything and everything from shaping to taping to painting to everything, all requires a high level of perfection.

Here's a few memories of laminating my very surfboard. November 24, 2010....21 years old... and so freakin stoked.

I can't wait to get this thing in the water.. and get on tip. I'm still not sure wether to glass in a fin or just get a box? I am off to Kauai the 26th for 3 weeks and will finish her then. Courage is the discovery that you may not win, and trying when you know you can lose. If you only do what you know you can do, you'll never do very much.

For those of you that do not know, our coast here in California is absolutely filled with sea life ranging anywhere from massive whales to microscopic plankton. Another one of my favorite pass times to do here is lobster fishing. Commercial fisherman mostly use a large quantity of lobster traps set up in a general area, being re-baited and checked every few days. For someone like myself with no boat or traps, I have to suit up from head to toe in neoprene, and swim out in the ocean during the middle of the night, and literally grab them with my hands. There is no spearing or netting allowed with these animals so you can see where the difficulty factor comes into play. Another way of lobster fishing is what we call hooping. We use a big round baited circular hoop attached to a buoy, and drop it on the sea floor and let them sit or "soak" anywhere form 15 to 30 minutes and then pull them up fast and steady (so nothing in the hoop, swims out). The first few hours were very productive but with most being shorts. As time went on, many more of the larger bugs came out to feast. The nickname for lobsters is a "bug" or"bugs". Referring to the insect like look they have with large tentacles from the head.

We start at around 6 pm and didnt end till 130 am. We even made an intermission trip to the store to buy more bait. Paddling, checking, sitting, paddling, casting, paddling, sitting, is a lot of what goes on while you let the hoops soak. I had my light spinning rod in my van and decided to take it out with me on the kayak. I set up a carolina rig with some squid on a lightweight trout set up with 10lb test. I casted, drifted, cranked, casted, drifted, etc, etc. It was pitch black with really not that much light other than the glowing of the moon. (*dunk,dunk, duh, duh duh duh dunk dunk....) my rod started going nuts. zzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooommmmmmmmm ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz..................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... My drag was being pulled and pulled and pulled. I had a something. Something massive, attached to the end of this line and I felt like I was going to get spooled. I start paddling and tightening down on the drag to try and slow this fish down.... Multiple attempts to get it to the kayak..... Im trying to gain line and we see the shark surface to only dart out again to a near by commercial lobster trap, wraps itself around the trap, and *BINK*.... the line snapped about a foot from my swivel. SHIT!!! is all I could say. I was bummed to have lost it, but so stoked at the same time. What a rush. I hear Bobby and Adam in the distance hooting and hollering pulling up more legals. I gathered my things to go check out all this commotion.

How to Hoop a Bug

In the hoops, we managed to pull up about a total of 15 eels that night. Some 3+ feet long ready to bite your finger right off.
